Each year, Dorothy Day hosts and participates in various events within the community to help reach more people in need.

GIVING HEARTS DAY - The most generous day of the year is Giving Hearts Day! Each year, Dorothy Day is able to raise money during Giving Hearts Day to help continue serving the Fargo-Moorhead Community

MINNESOTA FOOD SHARE: MARCH CAMPAIGN - We partner with MinnesotaFoodShare to collect food and funds for our food pantries.

BOY SCOUTS FOOD DRIVE - With March being food shelf, we partner with local Boy Scout troops to collect food to stock our pantries.

ANNIVERSARY MONTH - May is our anniversary month! Each year, we reflect and give thanks for the opportunity to continue to shelter, nourish, and empower people who are homeless and hungry.
LETTER CARRIER'S FOOD DRIVE: STAMP OUT HUNGER - Carriers collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices and deliver them to local community food banks, pantries and shelters. Nearly 1,500 NALC branches in all 50 states are involved.

SHARE A STORY - The Share A Story event is where families enjoy stories shared through music, dance and performances by local community members. The Fargo Park District, United Way of Cass-Clay, and Prairie Public Broadcasting host and organize this free event which is open to the public. The Dorothy Day Food Pantry participates and shares information about hunger, especially hunger among children.

HUNGER ACTION MONTH - No one should have to go hungry, and Hunger Action Month reminds us that there are those out there who need the help of a kind soul with an open hand, and that there are more than enough resources in the world for us all to eat well.

SOUP SUPPER FUNDRAISER - The Soup Supper is our annual fundraiser. Attendees get to choose a hand-painted ceramic bowl and enjoy all-you-can-eat soup and bread, featuring delicious soups from area restaurants and bread from Breadsmith. All proceeds benefit the Dorothy Day House’s emergency shelter and food pantry programs. As Dorothy Day said, “It’s not about the soup. It’s why we serve the soup.

HOMELESS & HUNGER AWARENESS (week before Thanksgiving each year) - Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Participating groups spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events.
FILL THE DOME FOOD DRIVE - Fill the Dome is an annual food drive in Fargo that is organized by local students and community members. Since 2007, Fill the Dome has raised $450,000 and 500 TONS of food! Each year, this event helps stock the shelves of our pantries.
